What does your indoor air quality look like?
Yes, this is something to keep a close eye on because bad air quality can cause eye irritation, fatigue, asthma, and respiratory disorders. And, household detergents are the biggest source of pollution of our indoor air.
If you are wondering which type of products can cause indoor pollution, here are a few.
Type of products can cause indoor pollution
1. Air fresheners emit and produce a range of unsafe air pollutants.
2. Cleaning sprays, such as surface cleaners and glass cleaners, can contain volatile organic compounds.
Volatile organic compounds are any organic (carbon-containing) compounds that evaporate in the atmosphere at room temperature; they are emitted gases from liquids or solid, which have effects on our health and the environment. Immediate symptomes would be headaches, eye irritation and dizziness.
3. Disinfecting wipes contain isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and other toxic components that can cause indoor air pollution.
4. Laundry detergent. Some laundry detergents contain dioxane, which are heterocyclic organic compounds classified as an ether. Dioxins are environmental pollutants. They belong to the so-called “dirty dozen,” a group of dangerous chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs). The WHO (world healt organisation) and the UNEP (UN environment progamme) give extensive information on the list of the dirty dozens.
Conventional household detergents can emit toxins into the air we breathe, hence the importance of natural household detergents. They don't contain any toxins at all, so there is no risk of pollution, and no risk of breathing in toxins.
At pour nous we are organic, vegan, and biodegradable. Also, we use refillable glass bottles, so we minimize packaging waste.
